Fujitsu Prices Stylistic Q550 Windows 7 Tablets for UK

Many different hardware manufacturers are looking to get down on the tablet game utilizing various platforms. At the head of the pack is the iOS powered iPad 2 but looking to gain some market share are Android tablets like the Motorola XOOM. However, these aren’t the only competitors by a long shot as there is also the webOS powered HP TouchPad and even several tablets powered by Microsoft’s Windows 7 desktop platform. While many may say a platform like Windows 7 isn’t ideal for a tablet device others may argue that the productivity associated with such a platform is greater than that of platforms like Android or iOS. One of the more highly anticipated tablets powered by Windows 7 is the Stylistic Q550 from Fujitsu. We’ve heard much of this tablet in the past but we haven’t been able to associate a solid price point with the tablet.

Luckily, Fujitsu has come forth today to give us the details saying the Stylistic Q550 will be priced between £749 – £849 which roughly translates to $1,212 – $1,374. Under the hood the Stylistic Q550 features an Intel ‘Oak Trail’ Atom processor, up to 2GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of SSD storage with an SD card slot for additional storage, front/rear facing cameras, HDMI, USB 2.0, WiFi, Bluetooth and optional 3G/GPS.

No word exactly when the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 will drop in the US let alone the UK (which these prices were announced for) but we will keep you posted. What do you think of Windows 7 on a tablet? Is it something that interests you or would you rather a platform built specifically for use on such devices like Android or iOS?
